        "content": "<p>Multimedia firm to start next year<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Indonusa Telemedia, a newly established<br>\nmultimedia company, will offer interactive non-telephony services<br>\nbeginning next year to television viewers.<\/p>\n<p>Peter F. Gontha, the president of Datakom Asia, which partly<br>\nowns the multimedia company, said yesterday that Indonusa<br>\nTelemedia would offer domestic and international services.<\/p>\n<p>The multimedia company is 35 percent owned by domestic<br>\ntelecommunications provider PT Telkom, 20 percent by cellular<br>\ntelecommunications provider PT Telekomindo Prima Bhakti, 20<br>\npercent by private television broadcaster PT Rajawali Citra<br>\nTelevisi Indonesia (RCTI) and 25 percent by PT Datakom Asia.<\/p>\n<p>An agreement on the establishment of Indonusa Telemedia was<br>\nsigned in Jakarta last October. The new company has an authorized<br>\ncapital of Rp 48 billion (US$20.5 million) and paid-up capital of<br>\nRp 12 billion ($5.1 million).<\/p>\n<p>The new company, originally called PT Telemedia Indonesia, is<br>\nowned by Telkom, Telekomindo, RCTI and PT Asriland, a subsidiary<br>\nof the publicly-listed Bimantara Citra. Datakom, controlled by<br>\nAsriland, then replaced Asriland and ownership did not change.<\/p>\n<p>Datakom, also owned by state-owned PT Indosat, PT Persada Giri<br>\nAbadi, PT Lembah Subur Adipertiwi and PT Azbindo Nusantara, has<br>\nseveral subsidiaries and affiliated firms including PT Media<br>\nCitra Indostar which will operate the Indostar satellite later<br>\nthis year.<\/p>\n<p>\"With RCTI as the content provider, Telekomindo as the<br>\nmarketing arm, Telkom as network provider and Datakom as<br>\nsatellite operator, Indonusa Telemedia will be a leading<br>\nmultimedia company,\" Gontha said.<\/p>\n<p>Telekomindo's director, P. Sartono, said yesterday that<br>\nIndonusa would provide entertainment services including news,<br>\naudio materials, videos and games on demand, home shopping as<br>\nwell as transactions.<\/p>\n<p>\"We expect a trial operation in March or April next year. Some<br>\n500,000 users are estimated to use the service within the first<br>\nfive years of its operation,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Indonusa Telemedia, there have been other firms<br>\nprepared to run multimedia or multimedia-related services. The<br>\nmultimedia firms, mostly involving similar shareholders, include<br>\nPT Multimedia Nusantara, PT Multi Media Asia (M2A) and PT YTC.<br>\nMultimedia Nusantara is a consortium of PT Indocitra Grahabawana,<br>\nTelkom, Indosat and the state-owned television broadcaster TVRI.<br>\nM2A is owned by PT PSN and Indosat, while YTC is owned by<br>\nDatakom, Youk Tanzil and Indosat.
