        "content": "<p>MUI to hold &apos;halal&apos; food expo<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will hold a halal<br>\n(permitted by the Islamic laws) food exhibition at Istiqlal<br>\nMosque on Jan. 18 to 22.<\/p>\n<p>Aisyah Girindra, director of MUI&apos;s Institute of Food, Drug and<br>\nCosmetics Assessment, said that the exhibition will display<br>\nvarious products from a number of food, drug and cosmetic<br>\ncompanies.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after delivering a halal certificate to noodle<br>\nproducer PT Asia Inti Selera over the weekend, Girindra said that<br>\nthe exhibition is aimed mainly at popularizing the halal food<br>\nproducts.<\/p>\n<p>The halal certificate was handed over by MUI chairman K.H.<br>\nHasan Basri to Jacob Antung, president of PT Asia Inti Selera,<br>\nthe Antara news agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob said that as a food producing company, PT Asia Inti<br>\nSelera stresses the importance of the certificate as part of the<br>\ncompany&apos;s responsibility to the consumers.
