        "content": "<p>The Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah urges all cadres at every\nlevel of the organisation to implement a culture of frugal living in\naddressing the current national and global economic situation.<\/p>\n<p>This appeal is contained in circular letter Number 5\/EDR\/1.0\/B\/2026\non the Call for Efficiency and a Culture of Frugal Living, dated 21\nApril 2026, signed by the General Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central\nLeadership, Haedar Nashir, and Secretary Muhammad Sayuti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Muhammadiyah Central Leadership urges all elements of the\norganisation to consistently apply principles of prudence and efficiency\nin budget management, conducting activities, and daily life,\u201d states the\nexplanation in the circular, as seen by Tempo on the Instagram account\n<span class=\"citation\" data-cites=\"lensamu\">@lensamu<\/span> on Saturday,\n9 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>There are eight main points conveyed by the Muhammadiyah Central\nLeadership to all elements of the organisation in this savings circular.\nThe points are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><p>Prioritising efficiency in budget spending and avoiding\nnon-urgent expenditures;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Prioritising strategic programmes and activities with direct\nimpact, and reducing unnecessary ceremonial activities;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Optimising the use of available resources effectively and\nresponsibly;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Reducing regional-national events and high-cost direct visits\nthat can be replaced with coordination meetings or online\nactivities;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Limiting the frequency of overseas visits, especially for\nnon-priority activities, and not involving parties without direct\ninterests, while considering budget efficiency principles;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Saving water, electricity, and energy in every office, building,\nand room. As an alternative, electricity savings can begin with the use\nof solar panels;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Strengthening a culture of sufficient, healthy, clean, and\nproductive living;<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Practising the Guidelines for the Islamic Life of Muhammadiyah\nCitizens (PHIWM) and the Treatise on Progressive Islam in all aspects of\nactivities.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cThese steps are expected to increase savings, strengthen\nindependence, and maintain the stability and continuity of the\nMuhammadiyah organisation,\u201d states the closing section of the\nMuhammadiyah Central Leadership circular.<\/p>",
