        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) has partnered with the\nPreaching Council of the Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP) to develop\ncooperatives based on places of worship, including mosques, as part of\nan effort to strengthen the economy of communities at the local\nlevel.<\/p>\n<p>This collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of\nUnderstanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Cooperatives and the\nMuhammadiyah Preaching Council in Jakarta on Friday (18\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, stated in a press\nrelease that the development of cooperatives based on places of worship\nwill begin with mosque-based cooperatives.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ferry, the development of mosque-based cooperatives can\nlearn from the experience of cooperatives within Islamic boarding\nschools (pesantren), which have successfully grown to support community\neconomic activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will encourage the establishment of cooperative business\nentities. It is hoped that this can be a good start to create a history\nof more modern and professional cooperative development in the future,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Quantum Institute\nFoundation, Akhyar Adi Hidayat, noted that the Muhammadiyah Preaching\nCouncil network, which encompasses approximately 12,000 mosques, has the\npotential to serve as a foundation for community-based cooperative\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are 12,000 mosques under the Muhammadiyah Preaching Council,\nand all the participants or congregants are real. The data is collected\nwithin a single digital database,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
