The aim is to improve the land's productivity and contribute to strengthening the economic well-being of the community.

Muhammadiyah, through its central leadership (PP), is planning to
establish a partnership with the Founder and Chairman of CT Corp,
Chairul Tanjung (CT), to optimise the use of the organisation’s waqf
land, making it more productive and impactful in strengthening the
economic well-being of the community.

The Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Anwar Abbas, stated that much of
Muhammadiyah’s waqf land is not being managed to its full potential.
According to him, CT sees this as an economic opportunity that can be
developed.

“There is still a lot of Muhammadiyah’s waqf land that has not been
managed and made productive. Mr. CT saw this as an economic
opportunity,” Anwar told reporters after a Ramadan lecture at the
Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday (26/2).

Anwar believes that CT has the capacity and extensive experience in
the business world to help Muhammadiyah develop its economic sector. He
hopes that this collaboration can address the organisation’s needs in
maximising its assets.

“Mr. CT, as someone who is experienced in the business world, is
certainly expected to play a role in helping Muhammadiyah achieve its
goals,” he said.

He explained that not all of the waqf land can be used for building
schools or mosques. Therefore, some of the land needs to be used for
productive activities such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and
fisheries to provide added value for the wider community.

“It is not possible to use all of it for schools, nor is it possible
to use all of it for mosques. Some of it should be used for productive
purposes, for agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry,” said Anwar,
who also heads the economic division at PP Muhammadiyah.

Anwar hopes that the management of the waqf land will also support
the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, including
becoming a supplier for the Nutrition Service Units (SPPG).

“How about managing the waqf land so that it can supply the needs, so
that the prices obtained by the SPPG are cheaper and the food for
children is much more nutritious,” he said.

He believes that the quality of food in the programme still needs to
be improved to truly meet the expected nutritional standards.

Meanwhile, the Founder and Chairman of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung,
welcomed the planned collaboration. He believes that Muhammadiyah has a
large network of schools and hospitals, which has the potential to
create an economic ecosystem that supports each other.

“Muhammadiyah has an extraordinary network of schools and hospitals.
Imagine if all of its operational needs were supplied by our own Muslim
entrepreneurs. How much money could we keep circulating,” said CT.
",
