Muchdi ignores second summons<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Former deputy intelligence chief Muchdi PR ignored on
\nWednesday a second summons for questioning in connection with the
\ndeath of human rights campaigner Munir, citing a previous
\ncommitment in Papua.<\/p>\n
"Last night, an intelligence official sent me an SMS message
\ninforming me that Pak Muchdi would be in West Irian Jaya for five
\ndays beginning today (Wednesday)," said Usman Hamid, a member of
\nthe government-sanctioned fact-finding team that is helping the
\npolice probe Munir's death.<\/p>\n
Muchdi failed to appear for a scheduled meeting last week.<\/p>\n
The team also is unlikely to be able to question former
\nNational Intelligence Agency (BIN) A.M. Hendropriyono on
\nThursday, Usman said after Hendropriyono's lawyer told the team
\nhis client had not finished with his out-of-town business.<\/p>\n
Usman said former and active BIN officials were trying to
\ndelay as the fact-finding team's mandate would end on June 23. He
\nsuggested that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono intervene and
\nforce the intelligence officials to cooperate with the team. --
