The overall champion of the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) at the\nAmbalawi District level, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), was\ngiven an empty envelope, while the third-place winner received only Rp\n100,000. The Bima Regency Government has finally responded to the\nincident.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Welfare Division of the Bima Regency Regional\nSecretariat, Ahyani, confirmed the occurrence. Ahyani stated that her\noffice had directly verified the matter with the MTQ committee and the\nAmbalawi District Government.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have checked. It is indeed true. We deeply regret this,\u201d Ahyani\nsaid when confirmed on Wednesday (23\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Ahyani explained that based on the findings, the committee justified\nthe empty envelope and the Rp 100,000 prize by citing budget\nlimitations. Ahyani deemed this reason highly questionable, as budget\nconstraints are a reality for all districts.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor example, the implementation of the MTQ at the Donggo District\nlevel, despite limited budget, saw the adult category winner receive a\nprize of Rp 5 million,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She emphasised that the prizes for the MTQ activities in Ambalawi\nDistrict have no connection to the Bima Regency Government, including\nthe Regent and Vice Regent of Bima. This is because the management and\nadministration of the MTQ delegation are structured hierarchically\naccording to level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe MTQ delegation from the village level is managed by the village\ngovernment, the district level by the district government, and so on up\nto the national level,\u201d she asserted.<\/p>\n
It was previously reported that the MTQ at the Ambalawi District\nlevel, Bima Regency, NTB, caused an uproar and drew significant\nscrutiny. The reason was that the qori (Quran reciter) who won the\noverall championship received an empty envelope, while the third place\nreceived only Rp 100,000.<\/p>\n
The incident was immediately revealed by the winner\u2019s family via the\nFacebook account \u2018Iwannda Kole\u2019. The account owner expressed\ndisappointment with the committee, particularly as the winner comes from\nan underprivileged family.<\/p>\n
