        "content": "<p>Trade Minister Budi Santoso has urged micro, small, and medium\nenterprises (MSMEs) to maximise opportunities in the ASEAN market\nthrough the update of the Second Protocol to Amend the ASEAN Trade in\nGoods Agreement (Second Protocol ATIGA). According to him, the update to\nthe agreement will strengthen regional trade integration while opening\ngreater opportunities for national businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister stated that the Second Protocol ATIGA introduces two new\nareas of cooperation, namely economic and technical cooperation and\nMSMEs. These two areas serve as a foundation for capacity building and\ntechnical assistance so that business actors are better able to utilise\ntrade opportunities in the ASEAN market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe high utilisation rate of the ATIGA scheme shows that Indonesian\nbusiness actors are capable of leveraging the various opportunities\navailable in the ASEAN market. With the update of ATIGA, we hope these\nbenefits will be even greater for national businesses, especially\nMSMEs,\u201d Budi said after a working meeting with Commission VI of the\nIndonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Second Protocol ATIGA is an update to ATIGA,\nwhich has been in effect since 2010. The protocol increases ASEAN trade\nliberalisation commitments to 98.76 percent, while also strengthening\ntrade facilitation, business certainty, and market access among member\ncountries.<\/p>\n<p>Budi noted that the update will make ASEAN trade rules more modern,\nefficient, and responsive to business developments. This step is\nexpected to increase the benefits of regional trade for Indonesian\nbusiness actors, particularly MSMEs.<\/p>\n<p>As an illustration, the utilisation rate of ATIGA tariff preference\nfacilities by Indonesian business actors reached 82.73 percent in 2024.\nThis figure far exceeds the ASEAN average of 55.89 percent,\ndemonstrating the high level of utilisation of regional trade facilities\nby national business actors.<\/p>",
