        "content": "<p>MPR to socialize 1945 Constitution<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Due to poor public understanding of the 1945<br>\nConstitution and decrees issued by the People's Consultative<br>\nAssembly (MPR), the government intends to design a<br>\nfamiliarization program.<\/p>\n<p>The plan was agreed upon in a consultative meeting between<br>\nPresident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and MPR leaders on Friday in<br>\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>MPR Speaker Hidayat Nurwahid conveyed his concern over<br>\npeople's -- including government official's -- poor understanding<br>\nof the Constitution and MPR decrees.<\/p>\n<p>\"There is concern that the public is no longer knowledgeable<br>\nwhen it comes to the Constitution and MPR decrees. This will<br>\neventually jeopardize their awareness of state interests,\" he<br>\ntold a joint media conference with Susilo at the State Palace.<\/p>\n<p>Hidayat said that during the meeting, Susilo agreed to help<br>\nthe MPR familiarize the public with the amended Constitution and<br>\nthe decrees, and that the government would allot a special fund<br>\nfor the dissemination program.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will start the program as soon as possible with government<br>\nofficials at central and provincial level before targeting the<br>\ngeneral public,\" said Susilo.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also agreed on the establishment of two special<br>\nteams to assist with the program.<\/p>\n<p>Susilo said a better understanding of the Constitution would<br>\nhelp build nationalism. --JP<\/p>",
