        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, Lestari Moerdijat,\nhopes that universities or higher education institutions will implement\nthe recommendations of Komnas Perempuan in preventing and protecting\nwomen from violence in the educational environment.<\/p>\n<p>Several recommendations were submitted by Komnas Perempuan to the\nMinistry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology at the end of\nFebruary 2026, to strengthen the protection mechanism for women in the\neducational environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe very much hope that these recommendations can be implemented as\nsoon as possible by higher education providers in the country,\u201d Lestari\nsaid in her statement in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Lestari explained that strengthening the mechanism for preventing and\nprotecting women from violence on campus must continue to be refined to\nrealise a safe and comfortable educational environment for the nation\u2019s\nnext generation.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the presence of Ministerial Regulation on\nEducation, Culture, Research, and Technology No.\u00a055 of 2024 on the\nPrevention and Handling of Violence in the Higher Education Environment\n(PPKPT) shows a more systematic direction in realising a sustainable\nprotection mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, its effectiveness in implementation still faces several\nchallenges in the field,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Several recommendations submitted by Komnas Perempuan include, she\nsaid, the creation of guidelines for implementing Ministerial Regulation\non Education, Culture, Research, and Technology No.\u00a055 of 2024,\nincluding the expansion of the definition of intolerance and\ndiscrimination.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, she continued, the Ministry of Education is encouraged\nto increase the capacity of the Task Force for the Prevention and\nHandling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT), pay attention\nto small-scale private universities, and integrate indicators of\nviolence prevention and handling into the evaluation and accreditation\nsystem for higher education.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Komnas Perempuan also emphasised the importance of\nstrengthening the monitoring and reporting mechanism for the\nimplementation of Ministerial Regulation on Education, Culture,\nResearch, and Technology No.\u00a055 of 2024 on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the recommendations conveyed by Komnas Perempuan\nmust be realised as best as possible as part of efforts to perfect the\nexisting protection mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>Lestari stated that it is essential in implementing a policy\ninvolving several institutions to have a common understanding of the\npolicy to be implemented.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, she continued, clear and easily understood implementation\nguidelines are needed for all field officers.<\/p>\n<p>The member of Commission X of the DPR RI hopes that with the\nimplementation of these recommendations, a safe and comfortable teaching\nand learning environment for the entire academic community can soon be\nrealised to encourage the birth of strong-charactered and competitive\ncitizens in the future.<\/p>",
