\u201cIndonesia is a shared home worth fighting for,\u201d Muzani said in his\nopening address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People\u2019s Consultative\nAssembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives\n(DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at Parliament Complex,\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
He said unity was essential for national progress, while divisions\ncould deplete the nation\u2019s energy through mutual suspicion and efforts\nto undermine one another.<\/p>\n
Conversely, he said, strong national unity could transform\ndifferences into a source of energy and progress.<\/p>\n
Indonesia will celebrate the 81st anniversary of its independence on\nAug.\u00a017.<\/p>\n
Therefore, he said, those attending the joint session were not merely\nparticipating in a constitutional ceremony, but were reaffirming their\ncommitment to the beloved Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promise that the independence we inherited from the nation\u2019s\nfounders will continue to be protected. We promise that political\ndifferences will not divide our national brotherhood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Muzani stressed that Indonesia was built by figures of great\nintegrity. They were at times involved in heated debates over the\nfoundations of the state, the form of government, the country\u2019s\nterritory, and the harmonious relationship between religion and the\nstate.<\/p>\n
Indonesia, he said, was not the result of one group defeating\nanother, but of all groups agreeing to pursue a greater national\nideal.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was from the greatness of these noble figures that the Republic\nof Indonesia was born,\u201d Muzani said.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the MPR, DPR, and DPD held the Annual Session of the MPR\nand the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD.<\/p>\n
The agenda included President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s address on the\nperformance of state institutions, as well as his State of the Nation\nAddress commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Republic of\nIndonesia\u2019s independence.<\/p>\n
The annual session is a state ceremony held ahead of Indonesia\u2019s 81st\nIndependence Day, under the theme \u201cA Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous\nIndonesia.\u201d<\/p>\n
