        "content": "<p>Deputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari\nMoerdijat (Rerie) has stated that efforts to realise proper childcare\nand child protection standards in Indonesia must be consistently\nenhanced. This right aims to create a future generation of the nation\nthat has character and is competitive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEfforts to protect children, who are the nation\u2019s next generation,\nmust begin with providing proper childcare from an early age. This step\nmust be realised consistently with the support of all parties,\u201d Rerie\nsaid in a written statement on Thursday (11\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, data from the Ministry of Women\u2019s Empowerment and Child\nProtection (PPPA) indicates that 75% of families in Indonesia now use\ndaycare services. Ironically, this demand is not matched by adequate\ngovernance. PPPA Minister Arifah Fauzi revealed that approximately 44%\nof daycare centres are unlicensed, 20% lack standard operating\nprocedures (SOPs), and 66.7% of their managers remain uncertified.<\/p>\n<p>This is despite the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recording in 2023\nthat 2.98% of Indonesian children still live in inadequate care.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rerie, the current child protection system still leaves\nmany gaps, ranging from inadequate childcare patterns and weak\nsupervision to minimal integrated handling of victims. She also opined\nthat strengthening prevention, protection, and law enforcement must\noccur simultaneously. \u201cThere must be no more loopholes for systemic\nviolence against children,\u201d Lestari stated.<\/p>\n<p>The senior official from the NasDem Party urged a comprehensive\nevaluation of every institution related to childcare and child\nprotection. \u201cA healthy, safe, and comfortable environment for children\u2019s\ngrowth and development must be realised for the sake of a better and\nmore competitive future generation of the nation,\u201d Rerie concluded.<\/p>",
