Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly
(MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Ahmad Muzani, stated that the
development of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan must
continue because the construction process so far has been very good.

Muzani conveyed this during his visit to the State Capital of
Nusantara with a delegation on Monday, to inspect the IKN development,
particularly the MPR RI building and other state facilities.

He also received an update on the Nusantara Capital development
process from the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki
Hadimuljono.

“I think we were surprised by Mr Basuki’s explanation; if it’s
already like this, then IKN must be continued,” said Muzani in a written
statement received in Jakarta.

Since the MPR’s last visit at the end of 2024, according to him, many
buildings were still in the planning stage, such as the IKN Mosque,
ministerial residences, and other buildings. However, currently, the
construction process for those buildings is progressing very
quickly.

Muzani said that IKN must reflect the progress of Nusantara
architecture as stated several times by President Prabowo Subianto.

He stated that the 7th President Joko Widodo, as the initiator of the
development, will be continued by President Prabowo.

Therefore, he hopes that the wheels of government in IKN will start
running in 2028. “And the transfer of ASN will be done gradually,
perhaps this year or next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, OIKN Head Basuki Hadimuljono explained that President
Prabowo has approved the design for the construction of the Legislative
building, namely the MPR, DPR, and DPD.

The President has also approved the design for the construction of
the Judicial institutions, namely the Supreme Court and the
Constitutional Court.

Currently, the lands for the construction of those buildings have
been prepared, and they must be completed within two years.

“I will complete the construction of the MPR plenary session building
within these two years, including all offices and staff rooms for the
MPR, DPR, and DPD,” said Basuki.
",
