Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House\nof Representatives (DPR RI), Rajiv, has requested that local governments\nand relevant authorities ensure that the victim of alleged child abuse\nin Cipongkor District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, receives\nprotection and assistance until full recovery, alongside the\ncontinuation of the legal process.<\/p>\n
In a statement in Jakarta on Friday, Rajiv assessed that the handling\nof child violence cases must not stop at law enforcement but must also\nguarantee the recovery of the victim\u2019s psychological condition to\nprevent prolonged trauma. According to him, every act of violence leaves\nboth physical and mental impacts that equally require attention.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we must ensure now is that this child does not lose their sense\nof security. They must be able to return to their life without being\nhaunted by fear or trauma,\u201d said Rajiv.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that the victim needs to receive assistance, including\ntrauma healing services, so they can return to living a normal life.\nAccording to the legislator for the West Java II constituency, the\nvictim\u2019s recovery is a vital part of protecting the child\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most important thing is to ensure the victim is safe, receives\ntrauma healing assistance, and can return to living well. The handling\nmust be done seriously because it concerns the future of a child,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Rajiv also urged the police to handle the case professionally and\ntransparently to provide legal certainty and prevent the recurrence of\nchild violence. He asserted that perpetrators must be processed\naccording to the law if proven to have committed acts of violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the perpetrator is proven to have committed violence, they must\nbe processed according to legal regulations. We must not let the child\nbe the most vulnerable party without receiving proper protection,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Rajiv invited the public to play an active role in\npreventing child violence by immediately reporting suspected acts of\nviolence to the authorities so that victims can receive prompt\nprotection.<\/p>\n
Previously, the police detained a man suspected of abusing his\nfive-year-old son in Cipongkor District, West Bandung Regency, West\nJava, after a video of the alleged violence circulated widely on social\nmedia. The footage showed a young boy allegedly being abused by a man\nwho was later identified as his biological father, triggering public\nattention and condemnation.<\/p>\n
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP M. Faruk Rozi confirmed on Thursday (30\/7)\nthat the case is being handled and stated that the suspect has been\ndetained for investigation.
