        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the\nIndonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, has urged the\nNational Police to make it a habit to respond quickly and firmly to\nevery criminal incident, which he believes can deter perpetrators from\nrepeating their evil deeds.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed appreciation for the swift action by the Makassar\nMetropolitan Police Command in arresting five perpetrators of a machete\nattack and stabbing that resulted in the death of a child with the\ninitials Hilal (13) on Jalan Abu Bakar Lambogo. Such actions should be\nemulated by other National Police units.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to the Makassar Metropolitan Police Chief and the Head of\nCriminal Investigation Unit for personally leading the operation; this\nshould be emulated by other police resorts across regions. Make it a\nhabit to respond quickly and firmly, so that perpetrators are deterred\nand crimes like this do not proliferate,\u201d Sahroni said in his statement\nin Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Sahroni noted that the tragic incident occurred on 12 May 2026, with\nthe child victim suffering torn wounds on several parts of his body due\nto the machete attack and stabbing carried out by the five\nperpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>The five perpetrators, with initials FN (19), YN (20), ASR (18), FDL\n(19), and RKY (18), are from the Makassar area and surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>The arrests were made after officers received a report and quickly\nconducted an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that this quick working pattern should be emulated by\nother police resorts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEssentially, do not allow street violence to grow in their\nrespective areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Sahroni believes that firm actions by the authorities\nlike this will make street criminals think twice before carrying out\ntheir actions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am confident that if the authorities are firm and quick like this,\nperpetrators will think a thousand times before acting.
