Indonesian MP Alex Indra Lukman has raised concerns over delays in subsidised fertiliser distribution caused by shortages of subsidised diesel fuel in various regions, exacerbating challenges for farmers. He proposes treating fertiliser transport trucks with the same priority as Pertamina's fuel tankers, especially in disaster-affected areas like West Sumatra, to ensure timely delivery under the new Ministry of Agriculture Regulation No. 15 of 2025. These disruptions threaten crop yields and Indonesia's food self-sufficiency goals under President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita agenda.

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of
Representatives, Alex Indra Lukman, has highlighted the hindrance to
subsidised fertiliser distribution due to shortages of subsidised diesel
fuel in various regions.

For West Sumatra, Alex noted that the situation is worsened by areas
not fully recovering from last year’s end-of-year disaster.

“Subsidised fertiliser transport should be treated on par with
Pertamina tanker trucks carrying fuel when passing through
disaster-affected roads, amid the recent surge in queues at fuel
stations,” Alex stated in his remarks on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

This policy is also seen as supporting the implementation of Ministry
of Agriculture Regulation No. 15 of 2025 on the Governance of Subsidised
Fertilisers (determination, procurement, distribution, and
supervision).

Alex explained that the latest regulation aims to shorten the
distribution chain, from the distributor’s warehouse (PUD) in Line 2
directly to the Complete Fertiliser Kiosk (KPL) in Line 4.

Although the subsidised fertiliser distribution mechanism has been
streamlined by regulation, the lack of subsidised diesel is viewed as a
new challenge.

“Do not let this become a factor hindering farmers from receiving
fertiliser on time at Line 4, which is the frontline of subsidised
fertiliser distribution,” he said.

This is because fertilisation schedules are tied to plant growth
stages.

According to him, applying fertiliser outside the schedule could
disrupt harvest yields.

Therefore, Alex emphasised that fertiliser availability must be
ensured at all Line 4 points every planting season.

“Delays in fertilisation will impact harvest results, ultimately
affecting the food self-sufficiency target, which is part of President
Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita,” he stressed.

Previously, fuel shortages were reported in several regions of
Indonesia.

In Palangkaraya City, Central Kalimantan, shortages lasted for
several days.

Fuel shortages also occurred in Labuan Bajo for several days.

These shortages not only hampered land transport but also disrupted
operations of wooden boats and speedboats.
",
