The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, has\nensured that the basic needs of residents affected by the Mount Sinabung\neruption are met during their displacement. The North Sumatra Provincial\nGovernment is also continuing to strengthen emergency handling,\nparticularly for residents located within the red zone of Mount\nSinabung\u2019s activity.<\/p>\n
Bobby Nasution personally inspected the condition of refugees at the\nSuka Tepu Village Evacuation and Health Post, Namanterran District, Karo\nRegency, on Tuesday, 1 September 2026. This inspection followed a\ncoordination meeting led by Bobby with the Regional Leadership\nCoordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the Geological Agency of the\nMinistry of Energy and Mineral Resources at the Sinabung Volcano\nObservatory.<\/p>\n
The North Sumatra Provincial Government is prioritising the\nevacuation of residents within the eruption\u2019s red zone radius. One\nlocation that has already been evacuated is Kuta Tengah Village, where\n280 individuals out of approximately 600 residents have been moved to\nthe Suka Tepu Evacuation Post.<\/p>\n
During a dialogue with residents, Bobby urged the community to remain\npatient and not return to their homes until official government\ninstructions regarding the safety of the area are issued.<\/p>\n
Bobby emphasised that the North Sumatra Provincial Government\nguarantees the fulfilment of basic needs for all affected residents.\nThis measure is being taken to ensure that refugees feel comfortable so\nthey are not compelled to return to areas that remain dangerous.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we have prepared is to ensure that the facilities here are\nsufficient, because we do not want those evacuating to feel\nuncomfortable and suddenly return to their homes. We are ensuring\neverything from sleeping facilities, water, toilets, and food,\u201d said\nBobby Nasution.<\/p>\n
He stated that the provincial government is standardising the\nadequacy of sleeping arrangements, including the availability of mats\nand blankets, ensuring the supply of clean water, increasing lighting,\nand improving the cleanliness of sanitation facilities and toilets. Food\nand drink supplies are also being secured, while support fleets are on\nstandby to distribute essential goods continuously.<\/p>\n
In addition to basic needs, the North Sumatra Provincial Government\nwill prepare special transport buses for school children affected by the\ndisplacement.
