        "content": "<p>Mount Rokatenda becoming active<\/p>\n<p>KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The volcano Mount Rokatenda has<br>\nincreased activity since Saturday, with people living on the<br>\nslopes of the mountain abandoning their homes in fear of a larger<br>\neruption, a senior government official says.<\/p>\n<p>Rokatenda has been billowing clouds of white smoke during the<br>\npast few days, with villagers living on or near its slopes<br>\nreporting a series of small tremors.<\/p>\n<p>Sikka regional government assistant secretary Henyo Kerong<br>\nsaid residents on the slope of Mount Rokatenda had fled their<br>\nhomes to lower ground fearing bigger eruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Henyo said the administration had warned residents to remain<br>\nwatchful of the volcano, one of the most active in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The increased activity came after Mount Egon eruption in the<br>\nprovince in September last year, forcing thousands of people to<br>\nflee their houses for safety. -- JP<\/p>",
