        "content": "<p>Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) Authority\nin West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has announced that from 1 September 2026,\nclimbing in the Mount Rinjani area of Lombok will be opened with\nrestrictions to prevent area fires during this dry season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNature tourism activities in Mount Rinjani National Park are being\nopened on a limited basis,\u201d said the Head of the West Nusa Tenggara TNGR\nAuthority, Budhy Kurnlariawan, in Mataram on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that this policy is a follow-up to the Circular Letter from\nthe Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation of\nthe Ministry of Forestry, Number SE.4\/KSDAE\/SKSDAE\/KSA.02.02\/08\/2026,\nregarding the temporary closure and limited opening of mountain climbing\ntourism to prevent forest fires.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe limited opening includes climbing tourism, rituals, religious,\ncultural, social, and research activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that during this period of limited opening, security and\narea supervision will be tightened.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, patrols and access control will be increased, and\ninspections of belongings that could potentially serve as fire sources\nwill be conducted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe indiscriminate use of fire is prohibited, and preparedness for\nforest and land fire prevention will be strengthened alongside relevant\nparties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that online booking services via the eRinjani application\nwill be temporarily suspended from 1 September 2026 until the fire risk\nis declared safe for full reopening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBookings that have been made and paid for before that date can still\nbe serviced according to the applicable provisions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The status of future openings will be determined based on the level\nof fire risk, the progression of the dry season, and the escalation of\nforest and land fire incidents within the Mount Rinjani National Park\narea, with evaluations conducted periodically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRinjani remains open, but safety and sustainability are the\npriorities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the public and tourists to work together to protect Rinjani\nfrom the threat of fire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not light fires indiscriminately. Do not leave fire sources\nbehind. Do not take risks,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
