        "content": "<p>The Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Ditjen Hubla) of the\nMinistry of Transportation has prohibited ships from approaching within\na 3-kilometre radius of the active crater of Mount Anak Krakatau in the\nSunda Strait waters. The ban is in effect while the volcano\u2019s status\nremains at Level III (Alert).<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Banten Class I Port Authority and Harbormaster\n(KSOP), Raden Yogie Nugraha, stated that all vessels passing through the\nSunda Strait waters are requested to increase vigilance regarding\npotential volcanic activity from Mount Anak Krakatau.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShips are prohibited from approaching the area within a 3 (three)\nkilometre radius of the active crater of Mount Anak Krakatau as long as\nthe Level III (Alert) status remains in effect,\u201d Yogie said in an\nofficial statement on Sunday (6\/9).<\/p>\n<p>He also urged masters of vessels to monitor official information\nregarding Mount Anak Krakatau\u2019s activity published by the Centre for\nVolcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), BMKG, local\nBPBD, and relevant government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Captains are also requested to plan their voyages by considering\nweather conditions, the direction of volcanic ash dispersal, and\nmaritime safety information from the authorised agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf indications of danger that could disrupt maritime safety are\nfound, Masters should immediately take necessary avoidance actions and\nreport them to the Vessel Traffic Service (VKS), Coast Radio Station,\nthe nearest Harbour Master, or relevant agencies,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the radius restriction, Ditjen Hubla ensured that ferry\nservices on the Merak-Bakauheni route and vice versa are still operating\nnormally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, ferry services on the Merak-Bakauheni route and vice\nversa are still running normally, while continuing to prioritise\nvigilance and maritime safety,\u201d said Yogie.<\/p>\n<p>Ditjen Hubla, through the Banten Class I KSOP and Bakauheni Class IV\nKSOP, continues to coordinate and monitor shipping conditions in the\nSunda Strait waters to ensure that safety, security, and the smooth flow\nof navigation are maintained.<\/p>",
