A concrete step to strengthen food sovereignty and ensure equitable\naccess to animal protein continues to be rolled out. PT Berdikari\n(Persero), part of the State-Owned Food Holding (ID FOOD), officially\nsigned a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership\nwith three regional governments at Hotel Bidakara, Jakarta.<\/p>\n
This major synergy brings together the Gorontalo Provincial\nGovernment, the Boalemo Regency Government, and the Bima Regency\nGovernment (West Nusa Tenggara), with full support from ID FOOD and\nDanantara Indonesia. The collaboration serves as a solution to food\ndistribution inequality, given that over 60 percent of livestock product\nconsumption is currently concentrated in the Greater Jakarta area.\nThrough this logistical interconnection, the abundant livestock\npotential in Gorontalo and Bima will be integrated to supply market\nneeds on Java Island.<\/p>\n
The Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Dr.\u00a0Agung\nSuganda, stressed that this integrated chicken downstreaming programme\nis a direct mandate from the President that must move quickly. \u201cThis\ninvestment must be aimed at helping, nurturing, and scaling up the\nbusinesses of smallholder farmers so they have price certainty in the\nmarket,\u201d Agung stated.<\/p>\n
PT Berdikari\u2019s President Director, Maryadi, added that the MoU\u2019s\nprimary focus is to build a livestock ecosystem that humanises farmers\nfrom upstream to downstream. \u201cOur ultimate goal is not just production\nfigures, but how this animal protein self-sufficiency goes hand in hand\nwith faster and more sustainable regional economic growth,\u201d Maryadi\nsaid.<\/p>\n
As a concrete follow-up to the MoU, a detailed road map has been\nprepared. It includes the construction of an integrated breeding\nunit\u2014from Grand Parent Stock (GPS) in East Java, Parent Stock (PS), to\nFinal Stock (FS)\u2014as well as an independent feed mill with a capacity of\n10,000 tonnes per month, based on local agricultural potential.<\/p>\n
Full commitment also came from the regional leaders. The Governor of\nGorontalo expressed readiness to expedite the processing of Land\nManagement Rights (HPL) to clarify the status of provincial land. \u201cThis\nindustrialisation programme has been long awaited by our community,\u201d he\nsaid warmly.<\/p>\n
Similarly, a representative from the Bima regional government hoped\nthat on-the-ground coordination could immediately kick off. The\nprogramme is particularly anticipated to support the supply of quality\nprotein for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, which is\ncurrently in high demand in the region.<\/p>\n
Through food balance calculations, this synergy is projected to\ngenerate collective meat production of up to 1.6 million tonnes.
