        "content": "<p>Motorcycles in Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>As a person who commutes by motorcycle taxi (ojek) from my <br>\nhome in Depok to my office in downtown Jakarta, I read with anger <br>\nZatni Arbi's article (The Jakarta Post, June 13) and Soegih <br>\nArto's letter (Post, June 18) about ridding Jakarta's streets of  <br>\nmotorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>I think neither writer realizes that motorcycles are an <br>\nintegral part of the transportation system in Jakarta. Some <br>\nresidential areas are easily accessed by motorbikes. And many <br>\nactivities are accomplished by motorcycle, such as courier <br>\ndeliveries, postal deliveries and food deliveries, not to mention <br>\nthe ojek.<\/p>\n<p>Given all of this, any suggestion to get rid of motorcycles <br>\nfrom Jakarta's streets is illogical. Hopefully Governor Sutiyoso <br>\nis wise enough not to be provoked and will ignore such an idea.<\/p>\n<p>If motorcycles aggravate traffic problems in Jakarta, the <br>\nsolution is not to ban them.<\/p>\n<p>MOHAMMAD MA'SUM<br>\nJakarta<\/p>",
