Motor vehicle thieves nabbed<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested a group of motor vehicle
\nthieves who operate in South Jakarta, Central Jakarta and
\nTangerang.<\/p>\n
In a preliminary interrogation the alleged thieves admitted to
\nstealing 15 motorcycles, a sedan and a minivan, Central Jakarta
\nPolice Chief Abubakar Nataprawira said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said one of the thieves, identified as Nurali, was
\napprehended on Monday night when he tried to sell a motorcycle to
\na prospective buyer in Bintaro, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The buyer was identified as Ujang bin Sakri.<\/p>\n
\"The police then arrested four men, identified as Anwar,
\nSamawi, Edi and Yaman alias Acong, who were believed to be
\nmembers of Nurali's gang,\" Abubakar said yesterday.<\/p>\n
The other thieves, identified as Iwan, Hamdani, and fences
\nEndang and Dendis Saton are still at large, he added.<\/p>\n
Abubakar said the thieves have sold the motorcycles for Rp
\n300,000 (US$128) each to fences.<\/p>\n
He said the fences then changed the registered plate numbers
\nof the motorcycles and sold them to people in Serang and
\nSukabumi, West Java.<\/p>\n
He added that the thieves worked out their plans in a house on
\nJl. Raya, Deplu complex, Ciledug, in Tangerang. (jun)<\/p>",
