The mother of a student, identified by the initials SS, who was a\nvictim of arson at the Rosyidatusshaulatiyyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic\nBoarding School in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has written to\nPresident Prabowo Subianto. She is requesting that the President deploy\nhis trusted officials to thoroughly investigate the arson case that\nkilled her child. The letter was read aloud by the family\u2019s legal\ncounsel, Titi Tantry, during a hearing with Commission III of the\nIndonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in\nSenayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 13 July 2026.<\/p>\n
Titi initially revealed that a police officer had presented her\nclient with a letter aimed at covering up the arson case, but her client\nrefused to agree to the peace settlement. Reading from the client\u2019s\nletter, Titi stated, \u201cMr President, a poor person like me does not know\nwhere else to turn, because the police and officials from the religious\naffairs department in Central Lombok are instead directing the boarding\nschool to offer a peace letter to cover up this crime.\u201d She continued,\n\u201cI beg the President to please send your trusted people from Jakarta to\ninvestigate the police officers and local officials who are complicit in\nsilencing the blood of my child.\u201d<\/p>\n
Titi demanded that the law be applied without discrimination in this\ncase, even though one of the alleged suspects is the child of the\nboarding school\u2019s owner. \u201cPlease ensure the law is blind, even if the\nperpetrator is the son of a religious teacher or the owner of the\nboarding school,\u201d she explained. She stressed that a peace letter cannot\nbuy her child\u2019s life, stating, \u201cMy child\u2019s life cannot be bought with a\npiece of peace paper.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was previously reported that three students at the boarding school\nwere victims of arson committed by a fellow student. The incident\nresulted in the death of Sahril Sabirin, while two other victims, Sahid\nAlkudri and Ahmad Devan Ramdan, sustained injuries. The two surviving\nvictims, along with their families and a legal team from Hotman Paris\n911, visited Commission III of the DPR RI to seek justice.
