Mother and daughter in Pamekasan, East Java, are suspected to be the\nmasterminds behind a cross-provincial gold theft. The head of the\nGeneral Crimin al Investigation Unit at Pamekasan Police Resort,\nInspector Reza, said in Pamekasan on Thursday that the two suspects were\ncaptured in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), after fleeing\nfollowing the theft. \u2018This arrest was made thanks to CCTV footage at the\nscene. We immediately conducted investigations and pursued the\nsuspects,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
The gold theft occurred on May 2, 2026, at around 3:00 pm Western\nIndonesian Time at a gold shop in Pamekasan. The case was reported to\nthe police by the victim on May 9, 2026 after the gold jewellery was\nfound missing.<\/p>\n
The case attracted public attention after CCTV footage from the scene\ncirculated widely and went viral on social media. From the footage, the\npolice identified two women who were strongly suspected of being the\nperpetrators.<\/p>\n
According to the head of the General Crimin al Investigation Unit,\nafter receiving the report, they immediately conducted a crime scene\nexamination and collected statements from witnesses on the ground.<\/p>\n

The arrest was conducted on Tuesday (May 12) in Dompu, NTB. The\noperation was the result of coordination between the Pamekasan Police\u2019s\nMobile Detective Team and the NTB police.<\/p>\n
\u2018After the suspects were confirmed to be in NTB, we coordinated with\nDompu Police Resort to carry out the arrest,\u2019 said Inspector Reza.<\/p>\n

He explained that the two suspects, initials UN (51) and AL (24), are\nmother and daughter, originally from Kalimantan. They are suspected not\nonly of operating at a single location, but also as part of a\ncross-regional theft network.<\/p>\n
After arrest, the suspects were taken back to Pamekasan for further\nlegal processing. Transport was carried out with tight security by land\nand sea.<\/p>\n
\u2018After arrest, both suspects and the evidence were taken to Pamekasan\nPolice Resort for further investigation. The provisional evidence is a\n10-gram gold bracelet,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Police are still deepening possible other crime locations and the\nbroader network, including tracing the stolen goods.<\/p>\n
