Most doctors have poor English<\/p>\n
PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Minister of Health Achmad Suyudi
\nsaid here on Friday that most of Indonesia's 40,000 doctors have
\na poor grasp of English.<\/p>\n
Suyudi admitted that doctors in the country are sufficient in
\nquantity, but in terms of quality the health services here are
\nstill poor.<\/p>\n
For this reason Indonesia's medical workers have not been able
\nto compete with their counterparts from other countries, he said.<\/p>\n
\"The existing system has to be totally restructured so as to
\nhelp improve the health services, if we want to compete in the
\ninternational market,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He admitted that, besides the poor health services, Indonesia
\nis currently also troubled by the circulation of many artificial
\nmedicines.<\/p>\n
\"We are still investigating who is behind the scandal. This
\nseverely hurts the condition of our health service,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Suyudi believes there is a syndicate involving the
\nparticipation of medical practitioners or drug dealers in the
\ncirculation of fake medicines.<\/p>\n
None of the culprits involved in the circulation of fake
\nmedicines have been identified yet, he added. --JP<\/p>",
