        "content": "<p>Morowali Customs and Morowali Security Service (MSS) have intensified\nsurveillance against illegal cigarette circulation in the PT Indonesia\nMorowali Industrial Park (IMIP) industrial zone. Joint teams conduct\nrigorous checks at all entry points to prevent illegal excisable goods\nfrom entering.<\/p>\n<p>The surveillance efforts bore fruit on Saturday, 23 May 2026, when\njoint teams seized 22,000 illegal cigarettes suspected of being\ndistributed within the IMIP industrial zone.<\/p>\n<p>Morowali Customs Office Head Muhariadi Angkat said the seizure\noccurred during routine MSS vehicle checks at industrial zone entrances.\nMSS officers discovered the illegal cigarettes and their owner\nattempting to enter the premises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe owner was detained and the cigarettes seized before being handed\nover to Morowali Customs for further processing under applicable\nregulations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The seized cigarettes were imported brands lacking excise stamps. The\nowner faced an administrative penalty of Rp89 million.<\/p>\n<p>Muhariadi praised the collaboration between MSS officers and Morowali\nCustoms in monitoring industrial zone entry points. \u201cWe hope the ongoing\nsynergy between both parties will minimise illegal cigarette circulation\nin the industrial zone and create a business environment that is orderly\nand compliant with regulations,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
