You oughta know that one of the most important contemporary
\nartists is coming to town.<\/p>\n

You oughta realize that the recent Australian Embassy blast
\nhas scared away some foreign musicians (Alicia Keys, bond) slated
\nto perform here.<\/p>\n

So, you oughta keep your fingers crossed, in the hope that
\nAlanis Morissette will not cancel her upcoming performance.<\/p>\n

The Canadian is scheduled to perform here on Oct. 3 at the
\nplenary hall of the Jakarta Convention Center, Central Jakarta,
\nfrom 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Brought here by Nepathya production, which earlier organized
\nconcerts by international artists like Linkin Park and Craig
\nDavid, the Sunday concert is part of Morissette's World Tour 2004
\nto promote her latest album So Called Chaos.<\/p>\n

Jakarta would be the next destination after Japan, as well as
\nthe only Southeast Asian city included on the tour.<\/p>\n

News of her concert is a nice suprise after the earlier string
\nof cancelations.<\/p>\n

American young diva Keys called off her concert, scheduled for
\nOct. 5, almost immediately after the Aug. 9 blast.<\/p>\n

Following Keys' lead was the classical crossover quartet bond,
\nwhich was scheduled to perform a week after her but sent their
\nregrets.<\/p>\n

Several artists are also scheduled to perform in the next few
\nmonths, such as Hanson in November and Norah Jones in March, but
\nthey could also cancel at any minute.<\/p>\n

However, pop\/rock icon Scorpion and British boyband Blue have
\ngone on with their shows.<\/p>\n

The upcoming concert would be Morissette's second here, after
\na 1995 gig to promote her groundbreaking debut album Jagged
\nLittle Pill (1994).<\/p>\n

The highly acclaimed record propelled the then 20-year-old
\nCanadian singer\/songwriter to stardom, and the angsty lyric and
\ngrunge\/pop\/rock earned her the title of little white angry
\nfemale.<\/p>\n

Her three subsequent albums may not be as accessible or as
\ngroundbreaking as the debut album, but they still bear evidence
\nto Morisette's great talent, smarts, strong, dramatic vocals and
\nher brilliant way with words in her lyrics.<\/p>\n

So be sure to catch her live here next Sunday.<\/p>\n
