Morgue activities paralyzed after attack<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The morgue at Cipto Mangunkusumo General
\nHospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta was devoid of activity on
\nTuesday, following an incident on Monday in which relatives of a
\nmurder victim ran amok.<\/p>\n
Doctors and staff said they were still in shock. \"We feel
\nunsafe doing our job,\" forensic expert Agus Purwadianto, who
\nsustained slight injuries in the attack, told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Mulyono Sulaiman said 14
\npeople were being questioned about the incident by the Central
\nJakarta Police. He said they could be charged with a number of
\ncrimes.<\/p>\n
The possible charges against the men, including Hercules, a
\nreputed gang leader, could include \"torture, vandalism and
\nissuing threats\", Mulyono said at Jakarta Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
As of Tuesday afternoon five bodies had been left at the
\nmorgue's entrance, a few of which were not accompanied by any
\nfamily members. No autopsies were performed on Tuesday, and 10
\nbodies which arrived on Monday and Tuesday remained unexamined.<\/p>\n
Agus said it would require at least two or three days for
\nactivities at the morgue to return to normal.<\/p>\n
\"We're waiting for the results of the police investigation,\"
\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Dozens of police officers were guarding the morgue, where
\nshattered windows, broken equipment and spots of dried blood were
\nvisible.<\/p>\n
Some 40 people ran amok at the morgue on Monday afternoon
\nfollowing an autopsy on Fernando Helio Parada. The 30-year-old,
\nwho helped coordinate parking at Bengkel Night Park in South
\nJakarta, was stabbed to death after he reportedly demanded money
\nfrom the occupants of a vehicle.<\/p>\n
The relatives of the victim reportedly were angry because they
\nbelieved an autopsy had been performed on Fernando without their
\nconsent. Morgue officials, however, said the victim's wife and
\nheir had been notified.<\/p>\n
The hospital's management filed a report about the incident
\nwith the Central Jakarta Police on Tuesday afternoon, Central
\nJakarta Police deputy chief of detectives Sr. Insp. Sutrisno
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile on Monday night, Hercules and other relatives of
\nFernando filed a complaint with the police against RSCM for what
\nthey called an unauthorized autopsy.<\/p>\n
Hercules said other people, not related to Fernando, were
\ninvolved in the incident at RSCM. He said these people sided with
\nthe relatives in the disagreement with morgue officials.<\/p>\n
A number of relatives of Fernando continued to stand watch
\nover his body at the morgue on Tuesday, while others accompanied
\nhis widow, Anastasia Bunga, to a Central Jakarta hospital, where
