        "content": "<p>More troops depart for Aceh<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG (JP): The first batch of troops from the Rajawali<br>\n(Hawk) II Team, especially trained for counterinsurgency<br>\noperations in Aceh, were flown out on Army Hercules transport<br>\nplanes to the restive province from Bandung&apos;s Husein Sastranegara<br>\nairport on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The departure of around 416 personnel was witnessed by Army<br>\nGeneral Affairs chief Lt. Gen. Djamari Chaniago.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the Military Education and Training Command Brig.<br>\nGen. Zamroni, who has been overseeing the training of a total of<br>\n1,100 combat troops, said the remaining troops who had been<br>\ntrained here for missions in Aceh would depart for the province<br>\non Monday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Adm. Widodo<br>\nAdisucipto inspected the readiness of the troops, who have been<br>\nspecifically prepared to be pitted against the separatist rebels<br>\nof the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).<\/p>\n<p>The troops were trained at the Army&apos;s Special Forces<br>\n(Kopassus) Training Center in Batujajar, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The troops are only allowed to capture GAM members and then<br>\nhand them to the police for the law to take its course,&quot; Zamroni<br>\ntold reporters.<\/p>\n<p>The troops were trained for two months and selected from the<br>\nArmy&apos;s Strategic Reserves Command&apos;s (Kostrad) second division in<br>\nMalang as well as the Siliwangi Military Command and Jakarta<br>\nMilitary Command.<\/p>\n<p>Some were also recruited from among Central Java&apos;s Diponegoro<br>\nMilitary Command&apos;s crack troops, the Banteng (wild bull) Raiders,<br>\nthe Air Force&apos;s Paskhas special forces, the Navy&apos;s marines and<br>\nthe military police.<\/p>\n<p>In Aceh, the troops are to be deployed in the four critical<br>\nregencies of North Aceh, East Aceh, Bireun and Pidie.<\/p>\n<p>The planned deployment has elicited a strong reaction from the<br>\nrebels who have stated that they would intensify their military<br>\ncampaign against the soldiers.
