More openness, Kiki vows<\/p>\n
DENPASAR (JP): Newly installed Udayana Military Commander Maj.
\nGen. Kiki Syahnakri said here on Saturday that he would develop a
\nmore open climate between soldiers and the general public in an
\neffort to forge better cooperation and unity.<\/p>\n
\"What I would first of all like to do is develop a dialog to
\nenhance, or restore if you will, integration (between the
\nmilitary and civilians,\" said Kiki, 52, after officially taking
\nover his command.<\/p>\n
He further stressed the need for soldiers to adhere to
\ndiscipline in carrying out their duties to win the hearts and
\ncooperation of the people.<\/p>\n
Kiki was installed at a ceremony on Saturday as chief of the
\nUdayana Military Command overseeing Bali, East and West Nusa
\nTenggara, replacing Maj. Gen. Adam Damiri.<\/p>\n
Kiki, a former deputy Army chief of staff, received his new
\nposting after helping in September quell violence in East Timor
\nas chief of the Security Restoration Operation Command in the now
\nformer Indonesian province.<\/p>\n
Saturday's ceremony was led by Army Chief of Staff Gen.
\nSubagyo H.S..<\/p>\n
Former Udayana commander Adam Damiri, who held the post for 18
\nmonths, is set to be the new assistant to the TNI chief of
