        "content": "<p>More low-cost apartments needed<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): A deputy governor wants PD Pembangunan Sarana<br>\nJaya, a city-owned construction company, to build more low-cost<br>\napartments to meet the escalating demand for housing among the<br>\nlow-income bracket.<\/p>\n<p>\"The company should not only anticipate big opportunities in<br>\nthe property business but should build more low-cost apartments<br>\ninstead,\" said Tb. M. Rais, the deputy governor for economic and<br>\ndevelopment affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Rais made the statement during the inauguration of several<br>\nhigh ranking city officials, including PD Sarana Jaya's new<br>\noperation director, M. Zaidani Hamdan, at a ceremony at City Hall<br>\non Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Up until now, the city-owned company has constructed eight<br>\nlow-cost apartments with a total of 2,934 units.<\/p>\n<p>The apartments, some of which are rented on a daily basis, are<br>\nlocated in Pondok Kelapa, Pondok Bambu and Cipinang, East<br>\nJakarta; in Karang Anyar and Rawa Sari, Central Jakarta; in<br>\nPenjaringan, North Jakarta, and in Cengkareng and Tambora, West<br>\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>PD Sarana Jaya's president, Thamrin Djamain, earlier said that<br>\nthe company would refurbish a dilapidated low-cost apartment<br>\ncomplex located in the Rawa Bilal area of Tebet, South Jakarta,<br>\nwhich was built in 1982.
