More demonstrators face jail terms<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A state prosecutor asked the Central Jakarta
\nDistrict Court yesterday to jail four more supporters of Megawati
\nSoekarnoputri, the ousted leader of the Indonesian Democratic
\nParty (PDI), to eight months each.<\/p>\n
The four were other supporters of the Megawati camp apart from
\nthe 124 tried in court last year for their alleged involvement in
\nthe July 27 riot.<\/p>\n
The four supporters, M. Nur bin Sukasto, Dominggus Dosantos,
\nSanggek Suhendra and Daglan Raja Goek Goek were charged with
\nassaulting security officers and attacking a police station near
\nthe party headquarters.<\/p>\n
They were also accused of ignoring police order to disperse
\nwhen they were found amidst the mob near the riot scene.<\/p>\n
However, according to previous sessions two of the four
\ndefendants held a United Development Party and a Golkar
\nmembership card respectively.<\/p>\n
Of the 124 supporters, 115 were sentenced to four months and
\nthree days imprisonment each for their involvement in the July 27
\nriot.<\/p>\n
Another supporter received one month and 10 days in jail while
\neight others were acquitted of all charges.<\/p>\n
The riot started when supporters of Soerjadi, the officially-
\nbacked PDI leader, seized the party headquarters on Jl.
\nDiponegoro, Central Jakarta, from Megawati's loyalists. (05)<\/p>",
