More billboards demolished<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The City Revenue Office and the City Public
\nOrder Office demolished five more illegal billboards in East and
\nNorth Jakarta yesterday.<\/p>\n
Three of the billboards promoting Ricoh and Konica products
\nwere in East Jakarta and the other two, owned by PT Finna Pangan
\nLestari and PT Mega Guna Ganda Semesta, were in North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"Thousands of other illegal billboards are still up even
\nthough their licenses have expired,\" Suhardi, an officer of the
\nrevenue office, said.<\/p>\n
According to the office data, 6,000 of the 60,000 officially
\nregistered billboards displayed throughout the capital are
\nillegal.<\/p>\n
Out of the 6,000 illegal billboards, only 107 have been
\ndemolished, Suhardi said.<\/p>\n
The data were compiled by PT Bina Citra Sentra Makmur, a
\nprivate company authorized by the city revenue office to do the
\njob.<\/p>\n
\"The illegal billboards already demolished mostly violated the
\nexpiration dates of their permits,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Suhardi also said that his office is having difficulty in
\ngetting rid of banners in the capital. \"Banners are not allowed
\nbecause they disturb the city's beauty. But soon after we clean
\nthem up, others go up again,\" he added. (31)<\/p>",
