        "content": "<p>The school holiday season is a period of increased public mobility\nacross various regions, driven by tourism, family visits, and\neducational activities. To support these needs, the Government, through\nthe Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transport,\nhas introduced a 3_0 per cent transport discount programme for\ncommercial economy class train travel.<\/p>\n<p>As the national railway operator, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)\nis supporting this programme by preparing a capacity of 1,174,624 seats\nfor departures between 20 June and 5 July 2026. This programme provides\nwider opportunities for the public to travel at more affordable costs\nduring the school holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond supporting public mobility, the increase in travel during the\nschool holiday period is expected to contribute to economic activities\nin various destination regions. The tourism, culinary, hospitality, and\nonward transport sectors, as well as MSMEs, stand to benefit from the\nincreased number of visitors.<\/p>\n<p>KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated\nthat the discount programme from the Government via the Ministry of\nTransport\u2019s DJKA can provide a positive impact on both the public and\ndestination areas. \u201cThe discount programme provides wider opportunities\nfor the public to travel during the school holidays. Increased mobility\nalso supports economic activities in various destination regions,\u201d said\nAnne.<\/p>\n<p>Public enthusiasm for the programme has been evident since sales\nopened on 6 June 2026. As of Monday, 8 June 2026, at 09:30 WIB, KAI\nrecorded sales of 86,036 tickets, representing 7.32 per cent of the\ntotal capacity provided. Consequently, 1,088,588 tickets, or 92.68 per\ncent of the prepared capacity, remain available, allowing the public\nflexibility in choosing schedules and destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary data shows that routes to tourist, educational, and major\nactivity centres remain the primary choices for customers. As of 8 June\n2026, the top five favourite routes are:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><p>Pasarsenen\u2013Lempuyangan: 3,256 passengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Lempuyangan\u2013Pasarsenen: 3,188 passengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Pasarsenen\u2013Yogyakarta: 1,987 passengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Yogyakarta\u2013Pasarsenen: 1,410 passengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Pasarsenen\u2013Malang: 1,331 passengers<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The dominance of routes towards Yogyakarta, Solo, Malang, Kutoarjo,\nBlitar, and Ketapang indicates high interest in areas with significant\ntourism, cultural, educational, and local economic appeal. This surge in\nmobility has the potential to positively impact various business sectors\nduring the holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding discounted services, the five favourite trains are:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><p>KA Majapahit (Malang\u2013Pasarsenen, return): 5,112\npassengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>KA Sawunggalih (Kutoarjo\u2013Pasarsenen, return): 4,526\npassengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>KA Progo (Lempuyangan\u2013Pasarsenen, return): 4,401\npassengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>KA Singasari (Blitar\u2013Pasarsenen, return): 3,821\npassengers<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>KA Blambangan Ekspres (Ketapang\u2013Pasarsenen, return): 3,413\npassengers<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Anne noted that current sales figures indicate a significant\nopportunity for the public to utilise the discount programme as most\ncapacity is still available. \u201cPublic interest continues to grow, but the\navailable capacity is still very large. We invite customers to plan\ntheir journeys early to take advantage of the discounted fares and\naccess a wider range of travel options,\u201d said Anne.<\/p>\n<p>The 30 per cent discount applies to all commercial economy class\ntrains for departures between 20 June and 5 July 2026.
