Molotov cocktails hit Australian school<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta police detectives are searching
\nfor a dark-colored Panther van, believed to be used by a group of
\nunidentified people who flung two Molotov cocktails into the
\nAustralian International School compound in Pejaten, early on
\nMonday morning, chief of detectives Capt. Rycko Amelza Daniel
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
"That's the only solid clue we have had so far," Rycko told
\nThe Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
He added that the school's security guard, who was questioned
\nlater in the afternoon, confirmed that the incident happened at
\nabout 4:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
"The guard said he only got to see the ball of fire, which he
\nimmediately put out with the help of a nearby tap and bucket,"
\nRycko said.<\/p>\n
"The Molotov cocktails were made in two Krateng Daeng (a
\nbrandname of energy drink) bottles," the officer said.<\/p>\n
Australian International School principal Penny Robertson
\nconfirmed the incident, saying the cocktails only burned a tiny
\npart of the school's driveway.<\/p>\n
"No students arrive during early morning hours," she told the
\nPost.<\/p>\n
The school had immediately reported the case to the local
\npolice, who then deployed 30 officers to help guard the school.<\/p>\n
Robertson said the incident did not affect the activities at
\nthe three-year-old school, which has 200 students and 20 staff.<\/p>\n
"We have about 30 different nationalities of students and
\nteachers here. So it's a threat to many countries, not only
\nAustralia," she said.<\/p>\n
She stated that school activities would continue as usual.<\/p>\n
"The police are so far very cooperative. We hope that they can
\ncatch the suspects soon," she said.<\/p>\n
The school, she added, had received at least two telephone
\nthreats last week from someone claiming to be from a Moslem
\ngroup, asking the school staff and students to leave the country
\nimmediately following the arrival of the Australian-led Interfet
\n(International Force for East Timor) troops in East Timor.<\/p>\n
Indonesia and Australia have suffered a severe strain in their
\nrelationship due to the East Timor issue.<\/p>\n
Even the guard at the international school refused to give his
\nname.<\/p>\n
"He asked me not to tell anybody. He said he didn't want his
\nfamily to suffer, just because Indonesia and Australia are not on
