Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued his latest\nstatement after the country was hit with a fresh round of sanctions by\nthe United States. The US imposed the new sanctions as the conflict with\nIran drags on and diplomatic efforts have stalled.<\/p>\n
The series of US sanctions is intended to bring down the Tehran\nregime. In his latest statement, Mojtaba declared that increasing\nreliance on Iran\u2019s domestic production is the key to overcoming the\ncountry\u2019s economic problems.<\/p>\n
Mojtaba also called for a gradual reduction of the dominant role of\nthe US dollar in the country\u2019s economy. He urged the government of\nPresident Masoud Pezeshkian to pay serious attention to various economic\nchallenges, including inflation, unemployment, price controls, and the\nregulation of goods and services markets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main key to overcoming all these problems lies in increasing\nreliance on domestic production,\u201d the Supreme Leader said.<\/p>\n
To encourage economic growth, Mojtaba called for the need to increase\ninvestment and direct it towards beneficial and important sectors. The\naim is to gradually reduce the important role of the dollar and place\nthe \u2018resistance economy\u2019 policy as a top priority.<\/p>\n
Mojtaba himself has not appeared in public since taking office in\nearly March. This time, he stressed the importance of ensuring an\nadequate supply of basic necessities and special goods.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Iranian rial exchange rate slumped to a record low\nagainst the US dollar on the free market this week, breaching 2,000,000\nrials per US dollar. This came as Washington imposed additional\nsanctions to cripple Tehran\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
Mojtaba also praised President Masoud Pezeshkian\u2019s government during\nthe war period. This included efforts to provide goods and various\nservices needed by the people, repair damaged essential facilities, and\nmanage energy supplies amid restrictions and conspiracies by the\n\u2018Zionist American\u2019 enemy as well as the intensification of sanctions and\nblockades.<\/p>\n
In his statement, Mojtaba also called for measures to maintain unity\nand preserve social cohesion in the country. He prohibited any action\nthat could potentially damage social cohesion in Iran.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny statement that breaks morale and weakens national or public\nmotivation, and all forms of false dichotomy \u2014 such as war or\nnegotiation, consensus or extremism, compromise or war-mongering \u2014 which\nin the past have caused direct or indirect losses to our beloved people,\ncould have similar impacts in the future,\u201d Mojtaba said.<\/p>\n
