PT Krakatau Steel has launched an innovative modular steel infrastructure initiative to address Indonesia's basic infrastructure needs, with three strategic projects already deployed across Sumatra Utara, Aceh, and Sulawesi Selatan in early 2026. The state-owned enterprise frames modular steel technology as both a humanitarian solution and social movement, enabling rapid construction of public facilities including nutrition centres and emergency clinics whilst promoting environmental sustainability. This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita development agenda, emphasising efficient industrialisation combined with environmental conservation for sustainable development.

PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk/Krakatau Steel Group (KRAS) has
strengthened its commitment to national development through innovation
in modular steel infrastructure that enables rapid construction and
adaptation. This approach is designed as a concrete solution to meet the
basic needs of Indonesian society broadly.

Krakatau Steel Chief Executive Officer Akbar Djohan stated that this
modular steel transformation represents a tangible manifestation of the
company’s commitment to the public interest.

According to him, modular steel is not merely a construction
innovation, but rather a social movement to provide physical facilities
that are safe, appropriate, and responsive to contemporary needs.

“Our focus extends beyond commercial aspects. We are committed to
ensuring that national steel technology serves as a humanitarian
solution and a pillar of sustainable development,” said Akbar Djohan,
who also serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry
Association (IISIA) and Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Freight
Forwarder Association (ALFI/ILFA), on Monday, 9 March 2026.

He explained that for Krakatau Steel Group, steel is not merely a
commodity but a genuine humanitarian solution. Through modular
technology that enables rapid construction, the company began 2026 with
concrete action at three strategic locations across Indonesia.

The initiative commenced on 2 February 2026 in North Sumatra, with
the construction of a Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) to
accelerate the Free Nutritious Meal Programme. This commitment continued
to Bener Meriah, Aceh, on 12 February, where the Waskita Emergency
Clinic was established as a rapid response for residents affected by
flash flooding. The initiative then reached Makassar, South Sulawesi, on
18 February with the completion of the Modular SPPG at Hasanuddin
University.

According to him, this series of projects demonstrates that in
Krakatau Steel’s hands, the power of steel has transformed into adaptive
public service infrastructure that is safe and wholly committed to
people’s welfare.

He also emphasised that Krakatau Steel’s modular steel is not merely
about speed, but rather a manifestation of future construction that is
environmentally friendly.

“Through optimisation of materials that minimise waste, ensure
durability, and provide flexibility for relocation, this innovation
becomes an answer to Indonesia’s green development challenges,” he
stated.

This strategic initiative, he added, aligns with the national
sustainable development agenda outlined in President Prabowo Subianto’s
Asta Cita vision.

“By combining industrial efficiency and environmental conservation,
we ensure that every infrastructure built today is a safe and
sustainable legacy for future generations,” he concluded.
",
