Mobil's petrochem project<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (DPA): Mobil appears poised to go ahead with plans
\nto build a multi-billion dollar petrochemical complex in
\nSingapore, a news report in the island republic said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Mobil's plans include a petrochemical cracker plant able to
\nsupply six to eight secondary or "downstream" partners, the
\nBusiness Times newspaper reported.<\/p>\n
The plant is likely to join similar facilities being built by
\nExxon and the Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore on a group
\nof islands off the Singapore coast, fitting in with the
\ngovernment's plans for a massive petroleum\/petrochemical zone in
\nthe area.<\/p>\n
The Mobil cracker is expected to have a capacity of some
\n800,000 to one million tons of ethylene and 300,000 tons of
\npropylene per year, roughly equal to the capacity of the Exxon
\nplant currently being built on a small island off Singapore's
\ncoast.<\/p>",
