        "content": "<p>Deputy Minister of Environment Diaz Hendropriyono has reminded mobile\noperators that they need to play a role in mitigating the impact of\nclimate change by implementing sustainable business practices. \u201cWe\ncertainly very much appreciate and strongly encourage companies to go\ngreen, because the extraordinary production of emissions to date is\nmaking the earth\u2019s temperature increasingly hot,\u201d Diaz said during a\npress conference for the launch of Telkomsel\u2019s 2025 Sustainability\nReport in Central Jakarta on Friday. According to him, the involvement\nof the private sector in environmental protection efforts is becoming\nincreasingly important as the threat of climate change grows, with its\nimpacts already being felt in Indonesia. He explained that data compiled\nby the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicates the\nearth\u2019s average temperature has risen by approximately 1.4 to 1.6\ndegrees Celsius compared to the pre-Industrial Revolution period. \u201cIf it\nreaches 2 degrees Celsius, this is a matter of extraordinary concern,\u201d\nhe stated. Furthermore, the snow on Puncak Jayawijaya in Papua has been\ncontinuously melting in recent years. Amidst these challenges, mobile\noperators\u2019 steps to reduce their carbon footprint are considered part of\nthe contribution the private sector can make to support national\nemission reduction targets. Diaz appreciated several initiatives already\nundertaken by mobile operators, including electronic waste (e-waste)\nmanagement and SIM card recycling as part of a circular economy. Beyond\nproviding environmental benefits, Diaz assessed that applying\nsustainable business principles can enhance a company\u2019s future\ncompetitiveness. According to him, younger generation consumers are now\nincreasingly considering sustainability aspects when choosing products\nand services. \u201cBy being sustainable, a company\u2019s value will certainly\nrise. Gen Z is now starting to choose sustainable products, and\nsustainability aspects are also a consideration in financing,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
