Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A national telecommunication firm PT Mobile-8 Telecom will launch fixed wireless access (FWA) which uses code division multiple access (CDMA) technology late this week, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
"In view of the government`s decision on national frequency bandwidth we are offering our cellular phone subscribers fixed wireless access," corporate affairs director Zen Smith said here Thursday.<\/p>\n
Mobile-8 claimed it could serve a total of 30 million subscribers in 2007 using 1,900 base transceiver stations (BTS) across the country.<\/p>\n
Smith said the company might increase number of BTS next year to improve its service.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mobile-8 Telecom marketing head Herman TKK said the corporate not only could give people such value added services as best voice and data but also EVDO REV A technology which provides people with high speed Internet service with up to 3.1 megabytes per second (mbps).<\/p>\n
With the government`s decision to give FWA system to Mobile-8, the corporate is determined to offer people new innovative products.<\/p>\n
First listed at Jakarta Stock Exchange last month, Mobile-8 has been preparing expansion programs in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Lombok.
