        "content": "<p>Mob loots hard liquor from stores<\/p>\n<p>PURWOKERTO, Central Java: A mob of some 100 people calling<br>\nthemselves the Wangon District Ukhuwah Muslim Group raided dozens<br>\nof stores and kiosks in the district late Saturday, and seized<br>\nthousands of bottles of liquor.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;What they did was illegal. No group or person is allowed to<br>\nconduct raids except for authorized officers. They have taken the<br>\nlaw into their own hands, and that&apos;s called looting!&quot; Banyumas<br>\nPolice chief Supt. Imam Basuki told journalists after receiving<br>\nreports about the incident from vendors.<\/p>\n<p>The group initiated their action by conducting a demonstration<br>\nearlier that evening, waving banners emblazoned with: &quot;Respect<br>\nthe Holy Ramadhan Month, Fight Vice,&quot; before ending up looting<br>\nthousands of bottles of liquor.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They stormed our store and took away all of the liquor. We<br>\ncouldn&apos;t do a thing to stop them,&quot; one storekeeper said.<\/p>\n<p>Police have promised to take stern action against the group.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We all agree that liquor has a negative effect on people.
