A man with the initials MBP (20) died during an attack on the West\nSumba Police Station, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday (15\/9) night.\nPolice have ensured that their personnel did not use live ammunition\nwhen dispersing the mob during the incident.<\/p>\n
NTT Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Kombes Henry Novika\nChandra, stated that MBP was a resident of West Sumba. The victim was\nfound dead at the scene, and his body is currently undergoing medical\nexamination to determine the cause of death.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne victim was found at the location last night,\u201d Henry said in\nKupang on Wednesday (16\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Based on a 12-second viral video, MBP appeared to be wearing a green\nt-shirt, a black jacket, and grey shorts. Several residents were seen\ncrowding around the man\u2019s body, which lay on the road.<\/p>\n
Henry explained that all personnel involved in the security operation\nwere confirmed not to have fired at the crowd or the victim. He stated\nthat the police dispersed the mob using tear gas and rubber bullets in\naccordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NTT Regional Police and West Sumba Police Station, who conducted\nthe security of the headquarters last night, were firm in not using live\nammunition. Therefore, the security measures used were in accordance\nwith the SOP to disperse the crowd,\u201d Henry explained.<\/p>\n
According to Henry, MBP\u2019s body is currently being identified at the\nLende Moripa Christian Hospital in West Sumba. A medical examination is\nbeing conducted to ascertain the cause of the victim\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the reports we have received so far, there was respiratory\narrest in the lungs. As for the cause, we are still awaiting the results\nof the scientific investigation,\u201d Henry clarified.<\/p>\n
The NTT Regional Police are committed to investigating the case\nthoroughly, transparently, and professionally. The investigation will be\nconducted using scientific investigation methods and will involve\nforensic experts.<\/p>\n
