        "content": "<p>Mitsubishi joins Malaysian LNG<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (Reuters): Trading company Mitsubishi Corp and another<br>\nJapanese firm have taken a five-percent stake in a Malaysian<br>\nventure to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in<br>\nIndonesia, industry sources said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia LNG Tiga -- a joint venture set up by Malaysian<br>\nnational oil company Petronas, Nippon Mitsubishi Oil Corp and the<br>\nRoyal Dutch\/Shell group -- plans to construct the LNG plant in<br>\nBintulu on Borneo island.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the five percent stake would be bought by Mitsubishi,<br>\nwhile the name of the other Japanese company was not immediately<br>\navailable, the sources said.<\/p>\n<p>The value of the stake was not known.<\/p>\n<p>The company intends to begin LNG production by the end of<br>\n2002, producing 6.8 million tons a year.<\/p>\n<p>The joint venture signed a confirmation of intent to supply up<br>\nto 1.6 million tons of LNG to three Japanese end users for 20<br>\nyears beginning in 2004.<\/p>",
