Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Mitra Plumbon Healthcare (Mitra Plumbon)\nand the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a loan agreement of up\nto IDR 415 billion (equivalent to US$25 million) to expand access to\naffordable and quality healthcare services in underserved areas of\nIndonesia. The financing will support the construction of a new hospital\nin Batang, Central Java, and the development of an outpatient building\nin Cirebon, West Java.<\/p>\n
This funding represents a significant milestone for Mitra Plumbon\nfollowing its strategic partnership with Growtheum Capital Partners\n(GCP) in 2023, which aims to accelerate the expansion of bed capacity\nand improve operational standards. The availability of hospital beds in\nIndonesia is still among the lowest in Southeast Asia, with significant\ndisparities between regions.<\/p>\n
While Jakarta and major cities are relatively well-served, many\nrapidly growing cities still face limitations in hospital\ninfrastructure, long travel times, and limited access to specialist and\nsub-specialist services.<\/p>\n
CEO of Mitra Plumbon Healthcare, Dr.\u00a0Festus Susilo, said that as a\nprivate hospital group focused on JKN patients, providing high-quality\nservices to those in need is a key mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough Indonesia has made significant progress towards\nnear-universal health coverage, access to quality hospital services\nstill needs to be strengthened in some areas. This project will\ncertainly help address the existing gaps. Through a partnership with\nMitra Plumbon, we want to ensure that high-quality healthcare services\nreach the communities that need them most,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
This project will add 350 hospital beds, create new jobs for local\ncommunities, and expand inpatient and outpatient services in areas with\nlow bed availability.<\/p>\n
Mitra Plumbon currently operates seven hospitals in West Java and\nserves a majority of JKN-BPJS Kesehatan patients. In April 2025, Mitra\nPlumbon Hospital in Cirebon obtained Joint Commission International\n(JCI) accreditation, an internationally recognised standard for\nmeasuring the quality of hospital services.<\/p>\n
This Sustainability-Linked Loan is the first in Indonesia\u2019s\nhealthcare sector, with financial incentives linked to the achievement\nof performance targets in the areas of climate, social and gender. These\ntargets include the implementation of renewable energy in hospitals, an\nincrease in the number of female doctors and nurses, and the expansion\nof access to healthcare services for JKN-BPJS Kesehatan patients.<\/p>\n
