Missing soldiers' fate still unknown<\/p>\n
AMBON, Maluku (JP): Three privates of Infantry
\nBattalion 731 are still missing after they attempted to disperse
\nrioters attacking Allang Asaude village in West Seram
\nsubdistrict, Central Maluku regency, at dawn last Saturday.<\/p>\n
Pattimura Military Commander Brig. Gen. Mustopo admitted here
\non Tuesday that his soldiers were still searching for the three
\nmissing privates without taking any repressive action so as not
\nto spark new violence in the region.<\/p>\n
Mustopo called on the people in the regency to report to the
\nmilitary command if they knew the whereabouts of the three
\nsoldiers. He said the military were able to identify the
\nattackers from specific characteristics of the dead body of one
\nof the rioters.<\/p>\n
He also asked those responsible for the soldiers'
\ndisappearance to deliver them dead or alive.<\/p>\n
Pvt. Imanuel Huluk and one rioter were killed, while one
\nvillager was injured and at least 20 houses were burned down
\nduring a clash in Allang Asaude village on August 4, 2001.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Maluku Governor Saleh Latuconsina said that the
\nprovincial administration, in cooperation with the military
\ncommand, had brought security in the area under control. (49)<\/p>",
