Missing on Mount Merapi<\/p>\n
On March 24, 1995 we were told that Darren Roper was reported
\nmissing on Mount Merapi, Bukit Tinggi, West Sumatra, along with
\nEdwards Williams and that a search by Mapala Proklamator along
\nwith the police was underway.<\/p>\n
Edward Williams later returned to Tubarair after seven days of
\nbeing lost. Chris Roper and Lee Morgan (brother & brother-in-law)
\njoined the search on March 29, 1995. Meanwhile, Mr. Paul Harris
\narrived in Jakarta to conduct meetings with businessmen and
\nofficials from Jakarta.<\/p>\n
After three weeks Darren Roper had still not been found. After
\nreturning to England Mr. Harris, Mr. Morgan and Bill Roper
\nreturned to Jakarta on April 18, 1995 to commence further
\nmeetings with the Yayasan Survival Indonesia. On conclusion of
\nthis meeting it was agreed that the Yayasan would continue their
\nsearch for Darren for a total of 30 days commencing April 24,
\n1995. Mr. Paul Harris has been in constant contact by telephone
\nand fax with coordinator of the Yayasan at Microwave Tower in
\nKotabaru.<\/p>\n
Mr. Morgan has again been to the Posko Tower, and has since
\nreturned to Jakarta with strong possibilities of returning to
\nSumatra again.<\/p>\n
Mr. Harris said progress is being made and I am confident of a
\nresult. We would like to thank everyone that has given their help
\nin the search for Darren Roper, and special thanks to Mr. Sutan
\nManahan.<\/p>\n
