Missing man found dead after new in Poso attacks<\/p>\n

A 26-year-old man, who was reported missing on Oct. 12 when
\nmasked gunmen raided several villages and killed at least nine
\npeople in Central Sulawesi, was found dead on Thursday, police
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for the Central Sulawesi Police headquarters Adj.
\nSr. Comr. Agus Sugianto said the body of Susanto Jafar was
\ndiscovered floating in a river at around 8 a.m. by civil servant
\nMarius Beba from Lawanga neighborhood, Poso Kota subdistrict.<\/p>\n
He said Marius reported the body to the nearby police who then
\nretrieved Susanto's body and took him to Poso General Hospital
\nfor an autopsy.<\/p>\n
The police were looking for witnesses to investigate the death
\nof the victim, Sugianto added.<\/p>\n
He said Susanto had been reported missing by his family last
\nSunday after a group of masked gunmen launched dawn raids on
\nthree villages in Poso Pesisir subdistrict, killing nine people.<\/p>\n
Susanto, a fish vendor operating across Poso Pesisir -- some
\n15 kilometers from downtown Poso, was believed to have been
\nabducted by unidentified people.<\/p>\n
Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Taufiq Ridha could
\nnot say on Thursday whether the disappearance of Susanto was
\nrelated to Sunday's attacks, saying security forces were
\ninvestigating the case.<\/p>\n
The police and military are engaged in joint search for the
\nmysterious gunmen across Poso, security officers said but would
\nnot reveal the number of personnel involved.<\/p>\n
Chief security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who ended a
\ntwo-day visit to Central Sulawesi on Thursday, said the
\nauthorities launched an intelligence operation as well to find
\nthe hideouts of the gunmen and stop renewed attacks in the
\nregency.<\/p>",
