Misleading report about Ambon<\/p>\n
In many cases you have published news about Ambon which I find
\nstrange and tendentious. I particularly refer to articles of your
\nMarch 6 and March 11 issues. In both articles you wrote the same
\nparagraph (second from bottom) which reads as follows: "The
\nviolence was initially sparked by a dispute between a Muslim
\nmigrant and a local Christian driver of a public minibus on Jan.
\n19." What do you mean by this repetitive paragraph?<\/p>\n
We are not blind and deaf. The tragedy has been going on for
\nmore than one month.<\/p>\n
Almost all Indonesians know that:<\/p>\n
* A Christian who broke his promise to pay the rental fee on a
\nvehicle owned by a Muslim initially sparked the violence.<\/p>\n
* It is clear that the violence was planned and it was not a
\ndispute but an attack.<\/p>\n
* You said "a Muslim migrant", but actually he was born in Ambon.
\nBecause of that statement a perception is built up which
\njustifies a Muslim exodus. In fact, Islam was there even before
\nthe Portuguese came to annex Ambon.<\/p>\n
I believe you should not violate the ethics and spirit of
\njournalism and I request that you not repeat the misleading,
\nabove-mentioned statement which has the potential to develop
\nhatred and vengeance. Keep the reform spirit to maintain unity
\nand integrity of our country!<\/p>\n
