        "content": "<p>Misleading ad due to 'poor coordination'<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Governor Sutiyoso admitted on Tuesday that<br>\nshoddy coordination between the city administration and the<br>\nMinistry of Home Affairs was behind the publication of a job<br>\nvacancy advertisement which misled hundreds of job seekers.<\/p>\n<p>Acknowledging it was caused by \"bad coordination between us\",<br>\nSutiyoso said the Sept. 12 advertisement's recruitment figures<br>\nwere based on outdated ministry data from last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the advertisement, the ministry planned to<br>\nrecruit 7,204 people to work in both central government and local<br>\nadministrations. It said the Jakarta administration alone would<br>\nrecruit 318 people.<\/p>\n<p>\"I have to reiterate now that the city administration will not<br>\naccept new recruits this year. About 1,000 vacancies available<br>\nlast year have all been filled,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will only recruit new employees after the battered<br>\neconomic condition recovers.\"<\/p>\n<p>About 200 job applicants had their hopes dashed last Thursday<br>\nwhen they learned the administration had no plans to recruit new<br>\nstaff.<\/p>\n<p>Administration officials tried to shift blame onto each other<br>\nwhen applicants demanded clarification on the snafu.<\/p>\n<p>Adjat Wiraatmadja, head of the city's employee affairs bureau,<br>\nclaimed his office had asked the city's public relations bureau<br>\nto place a new advertisement to clear up the misunderstanding<br>\nover the earlier ad.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the public relations bureau posted clarification<br>\nnotices at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the public relations bureau Kamaludin Santos denied<br>\nthat he was instructed to place advertisements.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether the administration sent notification to the<br>\nministry, Sutiyoso said: \"The fact was that the advertisement<br>\nsuddenly appeared in the newspapers even though the one who knew<br>\nprecisely (about new recruitment) was actually me.\"<\/p>\n<p>The governor steered clear of stating the ministry was to<br>\nblame and should apologize. \"I can't say that the ministry was<br>\nwrong,\" he said.
